Leadership Institute Application Process

The 2017 Leadership Institute application process and documents are listed below:

Important Dates
    • August 11, 2017 – Last day to submit application materials to HROE PD
    • September 1, 2017 – Selected participants will receive invitation to participate
    • September 8, 2017 – Last day selected participants can confirm their acceptance
    • September 11 through 22, 2017 – Alternates will be notified as space becomes available
    • October 3, 2017 – Leadership Institute begins (occurs October 3, 12, 19, 26, November 2 and 9)
    • October 12, 2017 – Leadership Institute meets at ChallengeWorks
    • November 9, 2017 – Last day of Leadership Institute to include presentations and graduation ceremony. Supervisors and significant others invited to the graduation ceremony.
Application Process
  1. Determine if you are eligible for participation in Leadership Institute by reviewing the eligibility criteria
  2. Complete application and gather your application materials:
    1. Complete application signed by you, your supervisor, and your dean, vice president or agency director.
    2. Written statement of interest that includes:
      1. A description of your current and past leadership experience (various roles, number of years, significant accomplishments) as well as your future leadership aspirations
      2. A description of how your participation in Leadership Institute will add value to your department, division or college, and the university
    3. Commitment statement signed by you and your supervisor
    4. Your supervisor’s letter of support that includes:
      1. A recommendation for your participation
      2. A description of how your participation will add value to the department, college or division, and the university
      3. Anything else he or she would like us to consider that pertains to the eligibility and selection criteria
    5. Account number to which the fee will be charged. 
  3. Send your completed application packet to the Professional Development Department so that it is received no later than Friday, August 11, 2017. You may submit your materials by email to PDinfo@tamu.edu (be sure to scan your completed form so that all signatures can be seen and verified). You will be confirmation of submission upon receipt of your application. If you do not receive confirmation, it is your responsibility to ensure the application has been successfully submitted.
