HR Liaison Advisory Resource Group

The HR Liaison Advisory Resource Group (HRLARG) is a standing committee of HR Liaisons who collaborate and provide feedback about human resources and payroll-related processes for continuous improvement and new initiatives in programs, services, and best practices for the seamless delivery of comprehensive human resources services to all university customers. It is an opportunity for HR Liaisons to work one-on-one with members of the Human Resources organization and lend their voice to the network!

FY 2016-17 Meeting Summaries

Quarterly Meeting, October 4, 2016

  • Discussed Years of Service Awards; all A&M System service will be included for the first time this year
  • Discussed Fearless on Every Front Campaign including the various HR events being held through Fearless at 140 week (October 3-7)
  • Discussed HR Liaison Network News and HR Express Newsletter including a possible readership survey; suggested adding a HR/benefits section in Texas A&M TODAY
  • Received an update on Project Helios / Workday from TAMUS Project Team; ADLOC numbers and UINs will continue to exist in Workday; HR Liaisons could potentially have multiple roles based on their current access; moving toward employee and manager self-service; differential pay being researched; encouraged to share the "Say Hello to Workday" video
  • Discussed current status of the FLSA and System-wide Pay Plan initiatives; informational sessions being provided; EPA blackout period, posting with new titles and reclassification freeze all expected in November

Quarterly Meeting, January 12, 2017

  • Dr. Abercrombie spent time getting to know the members; discussed Workday communication strategy; expressed appreciation of the HR Liaison role and encouraged attendees to use the meetings to brainstorm and provide feedback
  • Received an update on the HR vision including organizational changes and using the HR Liaison Network more strategically
  • Discussed DocuSign and Authorization to Fill process
  • Discussed multiple Pay Plan updates
  • Updated on several recruitment initiatives
  • Received update on Workday transition; encouraged to attend Workday Town Hall hosted by the TAMUS Project Team; announced monthly open forums for the campus community
  • Discussed trends affecting HR Liaisons in the departments/divisions; will continue discussion at future meetings

FY 2015-16 Meeting Summaries

Quarterly Meeting, October 13, 2015

  • Received an update on Project Helios: Laura Dohnalik and Barbara Bayer will represent staff and faculty as Project Coordinators for the University and Jeannie Laird will be the Change Champion; Deloitte was selected as the software implementer
  • Discussed changes to Civil Rights Compliance (System Regulation 08.01.01) which will require a change to the SAP and rule for all groups
  • Discussed individual sick leave donation which is currently suspended and under review
  • Discussed Affordable Care Act: only a small number of employees were impacted under the previous measurement period; discussed plans for employee notification regarding the 1095-C delivery which requires a separate authorization from the electronic delivery of the W-2
  • Discussed Wellness Regulation 31.02.13 which would allow employees 30 minutes during normal working hours for exercise three times each week

Quarterly Meeting, January 5, 2016

  • Received an update on the proposed FLSA regulation changes and its potential impact on the university
  • Discussed the progress of the System Pay Plan including the mapping of over 5,000 titles, minimum/midpoint/maximum salary ranges and plans for phase 2 of the budget process
  • Reviewed the Employee Exit Checklist and potential changes; all departments should use some type of exit checklist that includes the name of the HR Liaison or supervisor, signature and date
  • Introduced the new FMLA Checklist for Administrators
  • Discussed several Wellness Works initiatives including Naturally Slim/Fit Life, Wellness Leaders, Wellness Release Time, and the Fitbit program
  • Discussed Sick Leave Direct Donations and tax impacts

  • Received an update on the Vice President for Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness position
  • Discussed overtime regulations becoming effective 12/1/2016, the various Office of General Counsel interpretations along with possible budget actions
  • Discussed System-wide pay plan, new titles and communication strategies
  • Received an update on WELLNESS WORKS! initiatives including Wellness Release Time, expanded campus fitness sessions, Fitbit program, Wellness Leader program, upcoming wellness survey and sick leave pool revisions
