Important Fall 2021 Employee Reminders:

Americans with Disabilities Act, Occupancy Levels, Alternate Work Location Requests & Emergency Paid Sick Leave

Texas A&M University Employees,

Howdy, and welcome to the start of the fall 2021 semester and the beginning of the 2022 fiscal year!  As we work toward settling into the new semester, we want to reiterate workplace expectations originally announced on May 5, 2021. The following is a summary of key information related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) process, campus occupancy levels and Alternate Work Location (remote work) requests. This information is relevant to all employees including faculty, staff, student workers and grad assistants. Remote site employees (at branch campuses and other sites) should check with their HR representatives for site-specific protocols.

  • Campus Occupancy Levels
    • Effective June 1, 2021, campus occupancy levels increased to 100 percent and employees were expected to return to their regular worksite.
  • Emergency Paid Sick Leave
    • Employees who are unable to perform their assigned duties may be eligible for Emergency Paid Sick Leave afforded by the American Rescue Plan Act; available through September 30, 2021.
    • Alternatively, employees may choose to use their paid or unpaid leave as applicable. Leave eligibility and approval will vary, depending on the employee's status (benefit eligibility), circumstances and needs.

COVID-19 Reminders

  • Mandatory COVID-19 Testing for students, faculty and staff is underway Aug. 23-Sept. 10. To request a testing exemption, you are required to submit an email through your designated campus contact prior to September 10.
  • All members of the Texas A&M community - students, faculty and staff - are required to report a COVID-19 diagnosis, regardless of where tested, or if you have had close contact with someone who tests positive. This must be done by completing the COVID-19 Reporting Form.
  • Texas A&M regularly updates its COVID-19 Guidance page with helpful information.

We encourage you to continue to practice healthy habits including wearing a mask while in public indoor settings, practicing physical distancing where possible, and frequently washing your hands. These actions are known to be effective in reducing the spread of COVID-19. Thank you for helping us keep Aggieland safe and healthy!

Thank you and Gig’em!
