Exemptions from Mandatory COVID-19 Testing Program

Updated August 26, 2021

Texas A&M University has made COVID-19 testing mandatory for all employees and students. Failure to comply may subject you to to disciplinary action. Students and employees seeking an exemption from the testing program are required to submit an email request through the designated campus contact (see contacts below) prior to the expiration of the testing window.

If you meet one of the criteria listed below, you must submit your exemption request via email with your name, UIN, contact phone/email address and your qualifying reason. You will be notified if your exemption is approved.

You must take a COVID-19 test unless one the following exemptions apply:
  • You have approved leave (medical, faculty development, etc.) whereby you will not be required to be on university owned property during the semester;
  • You have an approved alternate work location (AWL) that does not require your attendance on campus, and you do not plan being on university owned property during the semester;
  • You have tested positive for COVID-19 after May 31, 2021 and entered the positive case through the COVID-19 Reporting Form;
  • Your official work or class location is outside of the Bryan-College Station campus and on-site testing is not available at your site; or
  • You are enrolled in an online degree program or are classified as in-absentia for the semester (example: study abroad) and reside outside the seven counties comprising the Brazos Valley.

If your circumstances change and you find that you will be on any university owned property this fall as a student, staff or faculty member, you are required to be tested at that time. You should contact your local administrator to make the necessary arrangements for testing.
