Annual Enrollment Opening July 1
Annual Enrollment, July 1-31, is the time for employees to review their benefits and consider any changes to make for the FY 2010 plan year, effective September 1, 2009.
Human Resources will have extended office hours in July for active employees seeking individual benefits consultations. Benefits Services will be open for walk-ins until 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from July 1 to July 30, 2009. HR offices are located in the General Service Complex at 705 Agronomy Road.
Two things that employees can do now to prepare:
- Take note of the Annual Enrollment Meeting Schedule 2009 being hosted by Texas A&M University Human Resources.
- Be sure to verify that email and home/mailing addresses are updated in HRConnect. (Employees should select the “Personal Date” option, scroll to the “Address” Section and follow the directions to edit the information.) This will ensure that the employee receives Annual Enrollment email messages and any mailed information.
Significant changes include the following:
- Employees will use the iBenefits button, a new option on the Single Sign-On menu, for Annual Enrollment this year.
- For A&M Care plans, Medco Health Solutions, Inc. will take over the administration of the prescription drug portion from CVS/Caremark.
- For Scott & White Health plan participants, there is an increase in costs for inpatient care, outpatient services, surgery and chemical dependency to a 20% coinsurance.
- The life insurance provider is changing to Minnesota Life, coverage maximums for dependents and evidence of good health requirements are changing, but all existing coverage amounts will be grandfathered.

System Benefits Administration has emailed all employees a link to the Benefits Briefs newsletter, which is a special annual enrollment issue.
In addition, System Benefits Administration has a Texas A&M System Annual Benefit Enrollment Site. A Plan Benefit Summary Comparison is provided on this page, and additional detailed comparisons of employee out-of-pocket costs, using an example of a common medical event, will be posted this week. Please continue to check the Annual Enrollment website link periodically for new resources as they are finalized.
