For Supervisors and Managers

While many people are competent and perhaps even experts in their primary vocational fields – whether mechanic, professor, accountant or advisor – those qualities that contributed to their success as individual contributors are likely not the same as those required for them to successfully lead a workgroup or function. Once they acquire supervisory or managerial responsibilities, employees must learn an entirely new skill set.

The roles and responsibilities of management vary widely, ranging from motivating and leading a team, to prioritizing the day-to-day activities of the work unit and conducting performance evaluations. PD provides many educational opportunities and resources to help new and existing supervisors and managers attain necessary skills and knowledge, as well as improve existing abilities.
