ASSISTANT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

SUMMARY

General Description:  Collects and formats statistics, and researches funding sources for non-profit community-based organizations.

DUTIES

Typical:  Identifies resources for federal, state and private funding for high-need areas of community organizations; prepares summative reviews of available funding opportunities; conducts data analysis; assists communities with proposal preparation; identifies customer needs; evaluates customer satisfaction; assists and coordinates with Community Development Specialists to support community development needs; maintains files and processes routine paperwork.

SUPERVISION

Received:  Receives detailed instruction and frequent review from administrative supervisor.
Given:  None.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  Bachelor's degree. One year of paid or voluntary, full or part-time, community development, leadership, fundraising, grant writing, or related experience.
Preferred:  Coursework in areas emphasizing community development, leadership, fundraising, or grant writing. None.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION

Required:  None.
Preferred:  Microsoft Office Specialist Certification.

EQUIPMENT

Typical:  Use of standard office equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Typical:  Strong writing, organizational and oral communication; word processing and spreadsheet software; knowledge of internet research methods.
