AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH WORKER II

SUMMARY

General Description:  Supports research or teaching laboratories, farms or ranches by performing specialized tasks.

DUTIES

Typical:  Uses field research equipment, procedures, and apparatus in conducting field experiments; performs a variety of work assignments utilizing mechanical, carpentry, and welding skills; assists in palpation, artificial insemination, and disease analyses; operates farm tractors for plowing, preparing soil for planting, cultivating, and harvesting field crops, fruits, and vegetables; prepares analyses on data collected; performs related duties as required.

SUPERVISION

Received:  General instruction and periodic review from immediate supervisor.
Given:  Occasional supervision of Agricultural Research Workers I and Laborers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of independently performing general farm, ranch or field laboratory work at a research unit.
Preferred:  Related college level courses in agriculture.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION

Required:  Valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain State of Texas class "C" vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment.
Preferred:  None.
