ASSISTANT FOOD SERVICES FACILITIES MANAGER

SUMMARY

General Description:  Assists the Facilities Manager in the management of building construction and maintenance programs and safety and health programs for departmental facilities.

DUTIES

Typical:  Assists the Facilities Manager in the planning, implementation, and coordination of construction and remodeling projects; coordinates installation of equipment, start-up, and training at all facilities; prepares and maintains records of written Physical Plant work requests and telecommunications work orders; acts as contact person and coordinates activities during execution of work orders; conducts safety and health inspections and monitors fire evacuation programs; communicates with the Safety and Health Office on safety and health issues associated with buildings and equipment; works with the Food Services Dietician on other safety and health issues; manages department vehicle maintenance and usage program for both owned and leased vehicles; acts as liaison with Physical Plant Transportation Center; supervises Security Attendants, including scheduling, duty assignments, and evaluations; manages equipment rental program for special events and coordinates special event set-up; assists in the start-up of new facilities and coordinates departmental requirements with other departments, outside contractors, or vendors; monitors warranties on all new equipment; contacts service representatives as needed, implements service programs, and maintains service records on equipment; assists in transfer of equipment to facilities or to surplus for auction; manages gourmet coffee program; assists Facilities Manager in the establishment and monitoring of preventative maintenance programs and service contracts; performs special projects for Facilities Manager; performs related duties as required.

SUPERVISION

Received:  General instruction and periodic review from administrative superior.
Given:  Detailed instruction to Security Attendants and inventory control personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in facilities management or construction planning and bidding of commercial buildings and equipment.
Preferred:  College or trade school training.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Typical:  Basic computer skills; knowledge of reading plans and construction scheduling; familiarity with building materials and maintenance.
