ASSISTANT CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR

SUMMARY

General Description:  Supervises and trains a small custodial crew or assists the Custodial Supervisor with a large crew by training and scheduling personnel and inspecting their work.

DUTIES

Typical:  Trains, schedules, directs, and inspects the work of a custodial crew in cleaning buildings; works with facilities manager to assure the building is properly cleaned and that Custodial Workers are present when needed; gives instructions in proper methods of custodial cleaning; recommends changes for improvement in work techniques and procedures; takes attendance and distributes building keys to workers; maintains an adequate level of supplies; assumes, on occasion, duties of the Custodial Supervisor; performs related duties as required.

SUPERVISION

Received:  General instruction and periodic review from the Custodial Supervisor.
Given:  Detailed initial instruction to and periodic review of a small custodial crew.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be able to communicate effectively. One to two years in custodial supervision.
Preferred:  Short courses in labor relations and supervision. Three to four years of related custodial work and additional supervisory experience.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION

Required:  Valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain State of Texas class "C" vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment.
Preferred:  None.
