AUTOMOTIVE PARTS SPECIALIST II

SUMMARY

General Description:  Manages an automotive parts department; obtains automotive parts and maintains a current inventory of parts and supplies.

DUTIES

Typical:  Maintains a current record of items on hand; insures that replenishments are received as needed; analyzes the parts demand data to incorporate new items into the system when warranted; maintains a parts catalog system for each type of vehicle or equipment maintained; establishes a list of sources of replacement parts for the equipment and vehicles maintained; records the appropriate model identification markings on parts when received; keeps the scheduler posted on the arrival of parts which were back-ordered; forwards all parts tickets to the accounting section, noting the vehicle or equipment on which parts were installed; performs related duties as required.

SUPERVISION

Received:  General instruction through directives and memorandums by supervisor; daily observations by supervisor.
Given:  Detailed initial instruction and frequent review to Automotive Parts Specialist I.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Five years experience as a parts clerk including two years experience in the operation of an automated repair parts inventory system.
Preferred:  Training in inventory systems and experience in automotive inventory and parts control.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION

Required:  Valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain State of Texas class "C" vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment.
Preferred:  None.
