AUTOMOTIVE PARTS SPECIALIST I

SUMMARY

General Description:  Assists in managing an automotive parts department; receives, handles, records, stores, and issues a variety of automotive parts.

DUTIES

Typical:  Works as parts counter person; determines the correct part from parts manual and issues to automobile repair technicians; conducts inventory of parts and supplies as required; orders replenishment parts for stock; maintains parts inventory records; establishes and records charge out rates for all parts; operates and supervises the parts department in the absence of the supervisor; performs related duties as required.

SUPERVISION

Received:  General instruction and occasional review from immediate supervisor.
Given:  Occasional supervision to helpers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Two years in the automobile parts industry at the retail level, and experience in the operation of an automated parts inventory system.
Preferred:   None.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION

Required:  Valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain State of Texas class "C" vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment.
Preferred:  None.
