AIRPORT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

SUMMARY

General Description:  Supervises the maintenance of airport facilities, grounds, and equipment.

DUTIES

Typical:  Hires, trains, and schedules maintenance personnel; supervises the maintenance of airport grounds, pavements, and fencing in accordance with FAA regulations; supervises the maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in all airport facilities, supervises the maintenance of all airport equipment, tractors, and vehicles; acts as liaison with the Physical Plant and outside agencies regarding maintenance activities and supervises work performed by outside agencies; manages, documents, and reconciles maintenance expenditures for six airport accounts.

SUPERVISION

Received:  General instruction and periodic review from Director and Assistant Director of Aviation.
Given:  Frequent supervision to airport maintenance personnel and student workers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or equivalent or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Five years experience in construction or maintenance related positions including one year of supervisory experience.
Preferred:  Associate degree or bachelor's degree. Experience in an airfield environment.

Required:  None.

EQUIPMENT

Typical:  None.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Typical:  Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine repair, welding, plumbing, and basic carpentry.
