AIRCRAFT RESCUE AND FIREFIGHTING TECHNICIAN

SUMMARY

General Description:  Performs aircraft rescue and firefighting duties at Easterwood Airport.

DUTIES

Typical:  Performs aircraft rescue and firefighting duties; responds to airport emergencies; operates and maintains fire fighting equipment; maintains emergency medical equipment and performs emergency medical aid as necessary; trains to maintain a level of competency in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration requirements; serves on stand-by to respond to aircraft emergencies.

Received:  General instruction and periodic review from Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or equivalent combination of training and experience, completion of a 40 hour first aid course or equivalent. Six months of firefighting experience.
Preferred:   Two years in fire service or one year of flight line experience.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION

Required:  State of Texas class "C" vehicle operators license. Must be able to obtain and maintain Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Certification and First Aid Certification.
Preferred:  Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic Certification

EQUIPMENT

Typical:  Use of standard firefighting equipment.
