AIRCRAFT RESCUE AND FIREFIGHTING SUPERVISOR

SUMMARY

General Description:  Supervises the activities of the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting organization at Easterwood Airport.

DUTIES

Typical:  Supervises aircraft and rescue firefighting personnel; establishes and conducts training programs to ensure that firefighting personnel are properly trained in accordance with FAA regulations; establishes and maintains training records; maintains an incident reporting system for all airport emergencies; oversees the maintenance and record keeping on aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicles and equipment; assists in the development of the airport emergency plan; serves on stand-by to respond to aircraft emergencies.

SUPERVISION

Received:  General instruction and periodic review from Associate Director of Aviation.
Given:  Detailed instruction and frequent review of Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Technicians.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or equivalent combination of training and experience, Emergency Medical Technician certification, and Fire Fighter certification. Four years in firefighting including one year of aircraft rescue and firefighting experience.
Preferred:   Airport operations experience, hazardous materials experience, and one year of supervisory experience.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION

Required:  State of Texas class "C" vehicle operator’s license.
Preferred:  None.

EQUIPMENT

Typical:  Use of standard firefighting equipment.
