SUPERVISOR FOR PLUMBING DISTRIBUTION

SUMMARY

General Description:  Supervises utility plumbing distribution in the maintenance, repair, and replacement of large diameter pipes on the campus main transmission water system and large diameter pipes for chilled water.

DUTIES

Typical:  Coordinates and schedules utility maintenance and repair on portable water, chilled water, hot water, sewer, gas, steam tunnels, and well field transmission lines; supervises utility plumbing distribution personnel; and related duties as required.

SUPERVISION

Received:  General instruction and periodic review from supervisor or other supervisor.
Given:  Detailed instruction and frequent review to utility plumbing distribution personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Ten years experience in working with a utility producing system as a plumber.
Preferred:  Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or graduation from a technical school. Experience as a plumber for TAMU Utilities.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION

Required:  Valid Texas “A” drivers license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment. TCEQ Class C WWT or Wastewater Collection II and TCEQ Class C Water Operator within six months of employment. Journeyman Plumber License.
Preferred:  Master Plumber License or TCEQ Class B WWT or TCEQ Class B Waterworks.

EQUIPMENT

Typical:  Use of hand tools, hydraulic valves, sewer-cleaning machines, and backhoe.
