AIRPORT OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR

SUMMARY

General Description:  Ensures that all airport facilities and equipment are inspected and maintained in good operating condition; oversees flight line personnel ensuring that operations are conducted safely and in accordance with published directives and standard operating procedures.

DUTIES

Typical:  Hires, trains, schedules, and supervises all flightline personnel; Supervises day-to-day operation of the airport to include but not limited to flight line, parking, refueling, vehicle operations, fuel acquisition and inspection, airfield lighting, pavements, storm drain systems, communications, and aesthetics of the airport; ensures that safety, standard operating procedures, and training requirements are strictly enforced; audits and maintains records relating to petroleum products, purchases, sales, and inventories; aids and oversees maintenance personnel, as required, to maintain or repair airport facilities; performs related duties as required.

SUPERVISION

Received:  General instruction and periodic review by Associate Director of Aviation.
Given:  General instruction and periodic review to Airport Line Attendants and student personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Three years in an aviation-related supervisory field with strong background in areas such as airport operations, maintenance, public relations, and fuels. Proven ability to supervise and train subordinates.
Preferred:  Extensive educational background in writing, math and computer use. Some college level courses. Additional qualifications in the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting field with Emergency Medical Technician or Level III First Aid Training.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION

Required:  Valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain State of Texas class "C" vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment.
Preferred:  None.

Typical:  None.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Typical:  Physically able to lift, push, pull, climb, dig, and work outside in all weather conditions. Able to work rotating shifts as necessary.
