AIRPORT ATTENDANT

SUMMARY

General Description:  Services aircraft and maintains aircraft and airport support equipment; provides all types of customer services; serves as Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) personnel.

DUTIES

Typical:  Marshals aircraft to parking areas, greets crews and passengers, and assists with baggage/cargo; takes fuel orders, provides into-plane service of petroleum products, and performs other aircraft services as required; operates and maintains auxiliary aircraft/airport equipment, i.e., fuel trucks, fuel tanks, fire truck, tow tractors and tugs, ground power units, tractors with grass mowers, and other equipment as necessary; repositions and hangars aircraft as required; occasionally performs duties as a cashier, making service invoices, answering telephones and radio, and operating cash register; works rotating shifts as necessary; performs related duties as required.

SUPERVISION

Received:  General instruction, periodic review, and training from Chief Airport Attendant and Airport Operations Supervisor.
Given:  Experience permitting, serves as Shift Supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must have mathematical and writing skills. Experience in truck, tractor, or heavy vehicle operation.
Preferred:  First Aid and/or fire fighting training. Fuel servicing (truck or pump), heavy truck driving, plus airport attendant duties and customer service related employment. Tractor experience.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION

Required:  Valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain State of Texas class "C" vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment. Physically able to climb ladders, lift, push, pull, dig, and be outdoors in all weather conditions. Elementary math and legible writing skills.
Preferred:  None.
