SUMMARY
General Description: Installs, repairs, and maintains air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating systems.
DUTIES
Typical: Maintains, services, repairs, overhauls, and operates air conditioning and refrigeration equipment; assists in installation of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment; maintains current operation and maintenance records on each unit of equipment; replaces shaft seals and bearings; lubricates and changes oil, filters, and belts; recharges chilling units, cleans boiler tubes, burners, and cooling towers and regulates equipment to obtain desired temperatures; installs, maintains, and repairs related components such as compressor units, pumps, air handling and fan coil units, heat exchangers, and boilers; maintains, services, and repairs electric and gas space heaters; performs related duties as required.
SUPERVISION
Received: General instruction and periodic review from Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic II or Technical Trades Foreman.
Given: Occasional supervision to Apprentices and helpers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required: High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Four years air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic experience.
Preferred: Completion of a federally certified HVAC apprentice program. Four years journeyman air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic experience.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION
Required: Valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain State of Texas class "C" vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment. Must have EPA Class I and II Refrigerant Certification.
Preferred: Licensed air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic.
