APPLIANCE REPAIR TECHNICIAN

SUMMARY

General Description:  Inspects, maintains, and adjusts mechanized custodial equipment to minimize downtime and prolong the life of the equipment.

DUTIES

Typical:  Inspects and maintains custodial equipment including floor machines, vacuum cleaners, window washers, waxers, and sweepers; diagnoses equipment malfunctions; schedules regular equipment inspections, lubrications, and adjustments; services dormitory washing machines and dryers; makes electrical and mechanical repairs on custodial equipment; keeps repair history and parts supply inventory records; performs related duties as required.

SUPERVISION

Received:  General instructions and periodic review from Manager of Custodial Services and/or Assistant Manager for Custodial Operations.
Given:  General instruction and frequent review of Maintenance Workers I and II.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. One year in appliance or small machine repair.
Preferred:  Additional vocational training in electrical repairs. Three years in appliance or small machine repair or certification as an appliance repairman.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION

Required:  Valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain State of Texas class "C" vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment.
Preferred:  None.
