SUMMARY

General Description:  Prepares diversified art work including illustrations, visual aids and camera-ready copies for publication.

DUTIES

Typical:  Confers with editors and clients regarding needed art work; plans work and determines appropriate artistic medium and style of presentation; uses appropriate techniques to prepare layout for approval; produces posters, charts, tables, maps, illustrations, book and pamphlet covers and aids for visual presentation; works with printer; uses microcomputer for some illustration and design work; performs related duties as required.

Received:  General instruction and occasional review from administrative supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High School graduate or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Two years in graphic art, commercial art, illustration, or design.
Preferred:  College level art courses.
