POLICE RECORDS TECHNICIAN III

SUMMARY

General Description:  Assist Police Records Supervisor with management in the coordination of records support activities and provides other administrative support for University Police personnel and the general public.

DUTIES

Typical:  Oversees, monitors, and reviews for accuracy data entries made by other Records personnel of police reports and tickets into the Records Management System (RMS); reviews, edits, and ensures accuracy of the police records and tickets that will be distributed to the appropriate courts, attorneys, and other agencies; trains and oversees job duties performed by other records support staff; oversees and occasionally prepares monthly reports, uniform crime reports, and departmental statistical reports; and performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION

Received:  General instruction and occasional review from Police Records Supervisor.
Given:  May give detailed initial instruction and frequent review of record technicians and/or student workers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Five years of experience in general office or clerical work, to include two years experience in a law enforcement environment.
Preferred:  Three years of experience in a law enforcement environment.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION

Required:  None.
Preferred:  Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) certification.
