SUMMARY

General Description:  Performs upper-level clerical Outreach Center activities such as describing and implementing services, coordinating schedules, scheduling visits and assigning of duties; assists program coordinators with supervision duties and on-site supervisor responsibilities.

DUTIES

Typical:  Performs Outreach Center activities such as assisting with development of training agendas; coordinates schedules of Outreach Worker I and II employees for training purposes; serves as a role model for Outreach Worker I and II employees; serves as a link between the Program Coordinator and other outreach workers; serves as a link for information, training, and safety concerns with the van drivers who transport the outreach workers; provides direct supervision of van drivers; assists with scheduling, route planning, etc.; receives feedback from outreach workers on how to better explain the programs; implements suggestions, if possible; discusses feedback with Program Coordinator when necessary for possible program changes; serves as a direct assistant to the Program Coordinator, serving as a back-up when necessary; serves as the line supervisor for the other outreach workers; assists with development of programs; develops strategies for recruitment of other residents as volunteers to help with providing services to the residents; assists Program Coordinator with supervision issues and has on-site supervisory responsibilities; takes a lead role in preparing the outreach workers for safety concerns; ensures other outreach workers are adequately prepared for their work in the colonias areas; performs administrative tasks; supervises set-up of events; performs related duties as required.

SUPERVISION

Received:  General instruction and review from immediate supervisor.
Given:  Serve as line supervisor of Outreach Worker I and II employees and will have on-site supervisor responsibilities. Serves as direct supervisor of van drivers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Three years experience, paid or voluntary, in community activities.
Preferred:   : Four years experience, paid or voluntary, in community activities.

EQUIPMENT

Typical:  None.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Typical:  Bilingual (Spanish/English) and ability to communicate without difficulty. Must have knowledge of and live in the colonias area. Ability to work evenings and weekends is preferred.
