SUMMARY

General Description:  Performs mid-level clerical Outreach Center activities such as conducting personal interviews, attending training, translating, recruiting volunteers, assisting with implementing services, and assisting with scheduling and assignment issues.

DUTIES

Typical:  Performs Outreach Center activities such as conducting personal interviews with local residents of the area to speak with them about information and education programs available to them; assists with implementing services; attends training; assists with helping Outreach Worker I employees to understand aspects of training; serves as a link between the residents and the Center activities and programs; explains, in detail, various governmental programs available to them; provides assistance in translating, in an understandable manner, what is required of the residents to participate in programs being offered at the Center; recruits other residents as volunteers to help with providing services to the residents; prepares reports; answers the telephone, assists with scheduling and assignment issues; performs administrative tasks; performs related duties as required.

Received:  General instruction and review from immediate supervisor.
Given:  None.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Two years experience, paid or voluntary, in community activities.
Preferred:   Three years experience, paid or voluntary, in community activities.

Required:  None.
Preferred:  None.

EQUIPMENT

Typical:  None.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Typical:  Bilingual (Spanish/English) and ability to communicate without difficulty. Must have knowledge of and live in the colonias area. Ability to work evenings and weekends is preferred.
