SUMMARY
General Description: Answers calls regarding unscheduled and emergency maintenance issues; monitors the campus-wide system for fire, intrusion and mechanical failure alarms and contacts the appropriate personnel; and provides directory assistance.
DUTIES
Typical: Receives calls by telephone and radio regarding unscheduled and emergency maintenance issues; prepares work requests and coordinates response by contacting the appropriate personnel following standard operating procedures; monitors the campus-wide system for fire, intrusion and mechanical failure alarms; takes appropriate action to include contacting the ambulance, police, Environmental Health & Safety, building or maintenance personnel; reports accidents and unsafe working conditions; uses proper personal protective equipment; follows safety procedures outlined in the Material Safety Data sheets; participates in safety training; answers calls from emergency phones located in the elevators of University owned buildings and dispatches the appropriate personnel; serves as the base station for the Physical Plant two-way radio network; issues keys and radios for emergency maintenance; issues loaner two-way radios; provides telephone directory service to customers for the University, System, and Agency offices in the area; may forward calls or establishes conference calls; performs related duties as required

Received: Detailed initial instruction and frequent review from Communications Center Assistant Supervisor and other administrative supervisors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required: High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Six months experience with multi-line phones and/or radio dispatch.
