1989-2009: Celebrating a partnership 20 years in the making…Human Resources and HR departmental liaisons!

On April 28, 2009, Human Resources kicked off a year-long 20th anniversary celebration of partnering with representatives from across campus to provide decentralized human resources services at the departmental level since 1989.

Originally called the Benefits Information Network and comprised of representatives from 40 departments, the group was dedicated to employee benefits issues, but soon the program expanded to include their participation in a wide variety of HR-related issues. Over the last 20 years, the group has been renamed a few times, seen many HR-related and payroll-related functions progress to online services, attended meetings that broadened their knowledge and skills, and recently established a comprehensive training program on hr and payroll-related laws, polices and rules.

In conjunction with the 20th anniversary celebration, Human Resources recognized 39 Texas A&M current employees who have been a part of this program since the Benefits Information Network was established in 1989. The HR Liaisons were presented with a china cup filled with a small flower – the service award was a version of the traditional 20-year wedding anniversary gift of china flatware.

The 20 year awards were presented to: Debbie Adkins, Debra Anderson, Michele Beal, Lisa Blum, Camille Crow, Jane Denoux, Madeline Dillard, Karen Gaas, Danny Grimes, Cheryl Hanks, Anna Janne, Linder Jones, Darlene Kaiser, Patricia Kelm, Yvonne Kovar, Michelle Kramer, Rebecca Kubena, Lorie Lapaglia, Judy Ludwig, Debra Mahle, Margaret Marek, Lisa McKown, Diana Montoya, Audrey Murray, Frances Nelson, Tom Reber, Mildred Richards, Debra Robertson, Betty Robinson, Sabrina Saladino, Gilbert Sawtelle, Dianna Sells-Surovik, Laura Sigle, Patricia Steele, Betty Suehs, Carolyn Teeter, Sherry Nesbitt-Vallejo, Charles Vrooman, Mary Lea Wilson.

HR Liaisons are truly partners with Human Resources to deliver hiring, compensation, evaluation, training and other personnel services and programs at each department, and facilitate supervisor and manager functions to help make A&M a great place to work. There are currently approximately 340 HR Liaisons who make up the HR Liaison Network. A list of Departmental HR Liaisons Contacts is posted here on the HR web site as a service to employees and management.
