PATH Frequently Asked Questions

What is PATH?
PATH (Portal Access for Total HR), formerly TAMU Jobs, is the new system for managing position descriptions, postings, and applicants. As of May 30, 2013, all employees will access PATH through the Single Sign On (SSO) menu.
What will happen to my department's Postings (formerly called Notice of Vacancy or NOV) that are open or on hold in TAMU Jobs?
NOVs from TAMU Jobs will not be migrated to the new system. The last day departments were able to submit new NOVs for posting to the TAMU Jobs system was May 16, 2013. Applicants will have the ability to view and apply to any open posting until May 28. On May 29, all open postings will be placed on hold. Departments have until June 14 to complete the hiring process for all pending TAMU Job postings. If a department has not filled a position from the TAMU Jobs NOV by that date, the NOV will be cancelled and the department will need to create and submit a new posting in PATH. Positions may not be posted in both systems at the same time.
What will happen to my department's position descriptions that were in TAMU Jobs?
Staff position descriptions (PDs) were migrated to PATH for the planned May 30 launch date. The last day for departments to submit requests for new positions, reclassifications or PD updates in the TAMU Jobs system was May 2, 2013. A transition period was needed for Human Resources to complete all pending requests in TAMU Jobs so that the most current positions, titles and information could be migrated to PATH for the launch date.
Will applicants be impacted by this upgrade?
Yes, applicants will create a new user account and application in the upgraded system, to be renamed "Job Path". Current applicant user data will not be migrated to Job Path so applicants will notice a difference when they log in to the upgraded site. In addition to being more user friendly, Job Path will include a number of new features. As a result of this transition, applicants may have active applications in both systems for a period of time. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. This information will be communicated to applicants in advance of the upgrade.
I see faculty as a position type for postings. Will I be using this?
TAMU will not be utilizing the faculty postings option. That option is available for use for other System entities requiring faculty positions to be posted through the PATH System.
I don't have access to complete an action that I need to. How do I get access?
Contact your department's HR Liaison to see if you have been assigned to the correct permissions. If you need additional permissions, your HR Liaison will need to send HR a request.
Will training be available for PATH?

Customer help sessions will be offered after the PATH system launch to help customers with specific questions. The sessions will be offered in a computer lab, will be come-and-go, and content will be based upon your specific questions and needs. No registration is needed. The help sessions in June are listed below:

  • Thursday, June 6: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon in GSC Lab 2202
  • Thursday, June 13: 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in GSC Lab 2202
  • Thursday, June 20: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon in GSC Lab 2202
  • Thursday, June 27: 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in GSC Lab 2202
